Supports Block 8406
in Orange County
Following is a
translation of an article appeared on the Vien Dong Daily on
07/15/2007.
SANTA
ANA, California. About 300 Vietnamese Americans, religious and
community leaders, participated in a fund raising event at the
Emerald Bay restaurant on July 14, 2007. The Uy Ban 8406 Hai Ngoai
or Committee Support of Block 8406 organized this event to generate
funding support for Block 8406 and other Vietnamese currently
protesting against communist Vietnam for illegally confiscated their
lands and properties in Vietnam.
Among special
guests were Jerry Kiley, who threw red wine at Phan Van Khai’s seat
in 2005, and Duc Tran, who bought two tickets for Jerry Kiley and
himself to attend the luncheon honoring the Nguyen Minh Triet in
June 2007. Additionally, there were Le Quyen and Phuoc Nguyen who
are community leaders from Virginia and Washington DC.
After the flag
salutation ceremonies, religious leaders Don Meyer, Cam Phu, Minh
Le, and Kim Huynh invited all community leaders on stage to pray for
members of Block 8406 as well as all Vietnamese currently protesting
against communist Vietnam for illegally confiscated their lands and
properties in Vietnam. As special guest, Mr. Jerry Kiley spoke
eloquently about his
encounter with Phan Van Khai in 2005 in Washington DC. He spoke
about throwing the symbolic red wine at Khai’s seat and addressing
Khai and said that the red wine
symbolized the blood on the hands of Khai and the brutal communist
regime that are killing its own Vietnamese people, religious leaders
for so many years, and that of 58,000 American veterans for fought
to protect freedom and liberty for Vietnam during the War.
Mr. Kiley called
on Vietnamese Americans to vote against US Senator John McCain, who
he called Viet Cong McCain or communist McCain. Mr. Kiley explained
that even though McCain was in Viet Cong prisons for years, McCain
was the one who lobbied the US for diplomatic and normalized
relations with communist Vietnam. Mr. Kiley said if Vietnamese
Americans want freedom and democracy for Vietnam then they should
not vote for John McCain.
Mr. Duc Tran spoke
about how he and Jerry Kiley managed to get through the event
organized for Nguyen Minh Triet in Washington DC during June 2007.
Mr. Tran said before Secret Police was able to discover Jerry Kiley
and escort him outside; Mr. Kiley managed to yell “Free Father Ly
and other peaceful freedom fighters in Vietnam” in front of all the
guests.
We learned that
after throwing the symbolic red wine at Khai’s seat, Mr. Jerry Kiley
was prosecuted but found not guilty due to lack of evidence. Mr. Le
Quyen has organized fund raising activities to pay for the attorney
in defending Mr. Kiley. Mr. Jerry Kiley is currently on FBI’s black
list and cannot come close to Vietnam communist officials.
All guest speakers
received many standing ovations from the audience. The event came
with musical presentation by the Dat Lanh Band with many new songs
just being composed.
Note: Phan Van Khai was the Prime Minter of Vietnam and Nguyen Minh
Triet is currently the President of Vietnam.
